rim buying question

im browsing new rim choices (18x8 or 18x8.5). im considering these options so far, SSR, BBS, i forged and HRE... im leaning on the SSR competitions, but not totally hell bent on them yet.

here are my questions..

1. what is your choice of rim? dosent have to be the three aforementioned
2. where can i purchase the rims for a good price
3. anything i should consider when buying? (like i hear that BBS will exchange damaged rims etc)
4. what tire should i be looking at with my suspension setup? bilstein sports with H&R sports

...................uhhhhhhhhhhh i think thats it for now.
any advice would be greatly appreciated.

HRE and I Forged for the bling look.

BBS are classic on Bimmer's tho. If it were me I would go with BBS LM's. Although I'm not sure if they will be available for the size/offset you're looking for.

Well depends on your budget and what you are looking for.

BBS LM available in 18x8, and in fact someone is selling used ones right now in For Sale section.
I love LM, but the only problem I got with them is width, 8" is too narrow imo and there are no other fitments available for e36.

BBS GT2 that Julian posted are prolly one of the best looking wheels, but VERY hard to get in North Amerca, in fact no one sell them here, you would have to order them from Japan. Which is mad waiting time, expensive shipping, and GT2 is also very expensive.
BBS is really nice, they have rims for all kinds of budgets, but they are too common and no custom sizes can be ordered

SSR Comp wheels are very nice looking wheels, in fact i want them and waiting for a good deal on a used set. But like you said, i also heard they are too soft, also not too long ago they delclared bankruptcy, so I dont know if you can order a new set now.
Very affordable.

HRE are nice, easy to order custom size you want, waiting time 4-6 weeks, expect to pay ~5g us just for wheels

iForged, doesnt worth it IMO, most of their wheels are copies of HRE, Id be fine with that, but they are asking too much for their "replicas". Also there were a lot of bad reviews about their rims and waiting time sometimes came become really long. Some people waited 4 month for their wheels.

It is true, but this problem affects not only HRE (R series) but many other 3pc wheels.(iForged, DTM Kreuz etc.)

Everyone has the SSR's on bf.c ,but i also had heard that they went out of business. If it were me then i would get the LM's, they are so sexy and quality is great. And i dont know who u knwo that ahs them but i know of very few ppl that ahve them, especially on e36, you see them more on e39.

Hamann are nice but popular as well, also hear that they are quite heavy. But i do think hamann makes some nice loking rims. ACS make really good looking rims but they are also on the really popular side(especially among e36's). Maybe also take a look at breyton and hartges if you want to be a bit different.(heavy though)

To buy, check out megawheelz in Mississagua. For what I have priced, they are the same and sometimes better then 1010tires.
