95 740

Hey guys I just saw a silver 1995 740 for sale which i'am thinking of picking up. The car is clean with the exception of some rust on the trunk lid. The car has 350,000km on it and the engine was replaced at 180,000km at a BMW dealership . The owner tells me that all the car needs is ball joints and that he just replaced the pads and rotors 2 months ago. He's asking $5700.00 cert and e tested. Is it a deal or should I stay away because of the high k? comments would be appreciated, thanks

Stay away as parts for 7 series are very very expensive. Also 350,000kms lots of mileage. You will be in for some major work. Try and get it for less around $4000 as he wont be able to sell with that high kms

Took the car to my mechanic yesterday....biggest piece of CRAP he's ever seen , and he's seen a lot. It needed ball joints , tranny was going , tires gas tank, couple of sensors , obc was damaged , and to top it off HUGE front end collision.

Well a it is best you get a car checked up. There are a lot of 7'series from out of town like Montreal that don't have papers. They are leased and driven to the ground. Well I will let you know if I come across a decent one.

thanks touch of class , as far as seeing the repairs to the front end it all looked okay untill we put it on the hoist, thats where you could see the butcher job that was done. Oh and touch of class your right the car is from montreal I did a vin search today for the hell of it , but there was no accident reports on the car.

You are wellcome...I remember buying a car from a dealer in Dufferin and it was a Volvo. The kms were rolled back and it also was involved in an accident. I found the service manual in the glove compartment and the vehicle showed 123,000 kms when indeed it has 223,000 kms. Be carful and be aware there are a lot of scams out there. Always ask for the Vehicle Information Package from the Ministry of Transport. If they dont have it, and you are still interested it can be bought from the Ministry for $25.00. Get the VIN number and check it out. Lot of cars from Montreal in Toronto now.
Regards

Ah sorry to hear that dude...I think that it's very very hard to find any bimmer that needs nothing and someones just wants to sell it cuz they dont need it ...Especially 7 series....Maybe the best thing to do would be to search the car that just factory warrnty is gone like 5-6 years...YOu get a vin # and go to dealer and they tell you the mileage and all the details to judge to before viewing the car....I suppose that the way to find "decent" 7er. I agree with someone that mentioned about scumm...All older 7series got 300k 400k on the clock and they roll back to $150 000....I find it funny how it's always around 120k 150k mileage...Good luck with mision.
