BMW Museum in Munich...
...well, not exactly the real BMW museum since the four cylinder building is under renovations at the moment. But Mobile Tradition has set up an exhibition about a KM away from the Bimmer headquarters and has an impressive line of vehicles on display.
I was there two weeks ago when i was on vacation. Wow, what an experience...
I hope the pics work

I have seen your dads M1 race car! He has the BMW shop near POrt perry right? Some sick cars there - you lucky bugger 
I was in munchen last summer and they didnt even have that temporary display  Nice pics....

For the newer bimmers, i think you have to goto the some big technology pavilion in downtown munich. Thats where the CSL is and all the crazy ACS and hammann e46s and M5s are.
The BMW museum only holds the classic cars, basically the history of BMW.
