I finally get on the merging lane and decided to floor it... the guy in the golf kept up with me... of course... I kept flooring it... no good. The guy in the golf had a CANOE on his car.. and he flew by me. Caught up with im near warden... turns out he has stage 3 turbo's on it. nice guy though...

There are some much faster 1.8T VWs in the GTA. It's my daily, so I don't want to go too crazy. 136,000 km and still going strong.

There's something I don't understand. I've been lurking for a while and noticed that you guys have some love for the VR6 and nothing but hate for the 1.8T. There is a replacement for displacement... it's called boost.
Nice numbers. Are you still running the stock software or the APR Stage III software? Just curious because you mentioned about the software for this summer, but that could be to accomodate your injectors upgrade, etc later.

That's pretty solid that you gave the E46 M3 a run. My friend with a B5 A4 1.8T Quattro gave an E46 M3 SMG II a run as well. He slowly pulled on it though. But you have the advantage over my friend's car in weight and drivetrain loss from the Quattro.

Relating to your last paragraph, it's probably because people haven't seen the potential of the 1.8T and hence you see all the raves on the VR6. But given that the VR6 is turbo'ed to make things equal, I rather opt for the VR6.

I'm running the APR Stage III software. I want to upgrade to the APR Stage III+. The upgrade includes a GT28RS turbo (to replace my GT28R) and 550 cc injectors (to replace my 440 cc) and a re-map.

Don't get me wrong - I don't dislike the VR6. Turbo VR6s just tend to be a lot more expensive than a turbo upgrade on a 1.8T.

What differences are there from the GT28R to the GT28RS? Did they increase the inlet size on the compressor housing or did they change the impellors, any ideas?

Anyhow, I'd love to check out your setup sometime in person, perhaps with a video to it too done by me

APR uses a "special" GT28RS so they can use their existing piping. The outside of the compressor housing looks the same, but the inside is more fun.

Well i think the 1.8T are a great motor your can really get some great horsepower, my friend also has a T44 ballbearing turbo on it with a wasegate control valve, and when you close the wastegate Holyshit it sick fast, just lights up the front tires

That's why you get the turbo kit for the VR6.

Pow!!!

It's a good story, but the way you wrote it, I thought you were stock. The 1.8T makes around 167 whp out of the factory. It would be fairly unlikely that you'd walk an M3 on the highway with that. I don't see how going from 167 whp to 262 whp is 'nothing special', but that's just me.
Anyhow, you got a really quick car with a nice setup so thumbs up to you. My brother drives a 1.8T and he's upgrading to an APR as well next summer, he keeps telling me how he's gonna take my ass off the road. Let's see how he does.
