How many FPS on the Video Camcorder mode for 640x480?

That can't be right. Did you get the FPS reversed? Usually the higher res = lower FPS.
I was just looking for an inexpensive 30fps minimum/avg to mount in the car for track/driving video.

should be

What is the recording format of the video (PLEAAAAASE don't say quicktime! ) - Not that quicktime is BAD, I just don't like it.

Not CD or Tape.
MEMORY CARD ONLY - SD or MMC. Manual says 512mb max, but some people tried 1GB on it and it works!
