Amp & box help

I'm looking at getting a s/w box and an amp to run it. What's a better style box for e30's.

single-bandpass(?) style

I've been running a single sealed 12" since November, no complaints, sounds awesome, pounds the shit out of everything on full. I'm going ported, with a similar box design as Jordan (wide and shallow).

Moved to Audio/Sound

Don't get anything bandpass, and if you want a ported box make sure the person fabricating it is knowledgable. Very easy to screw up the sound. It also completely depends on the driver specs, some sound better ported than others, despite both being rated as compatible with such box designs.

If you're interested in a great technical explanation, read here: http://diyaudiocorner.tripod.com/dilemma.htm

Bandpass gives more bass. But if you hear a bandpass and ported right after one another you will want ported.

Bandpass and sealed side by side are a laugh.

I had bandpass.. one note basically.. one loud farty, muffled note..

how imporant is trunk space to you? if its not at all (like its not to me), you can do what I did and go with a big ass box for 1 sub... that'll help produce more bass if that what u want..

the trunk space in an e30 is pretty volumous, so i've got variance for a number of different sized boxes...don't want one too big though...it's more for personal use rather than show.

A bandpass box has a sealed portion and a ported portion.

A ported box is basically a sealed box with a port in it.

A sealed box is sealed.
