did you had the cams installed when you had a runin with the modded 1.8t? cuz i'm pretty sure your pulling at e36 m3 range with your mods.

well, you can ask me. I've had both at the same time, both chipped and intake.

on the highway, M will rape the 1.8 like no tomorrow (i was the "rapee" ). At the line though, not as easy, but still no problem.

Stock M pulls a 5.3-5.4 0-100 while a good driver in the GTI can do 5.6-5.7

Well my friend has just done a 1.8t conversion to his 1991 mk2 golf, before my 328i would smoke him like a kipper!!! however he now has 254bhp at the wheels from this 1.8t, with half the weight of mine, he's having fun taking on the giants and watching rich men, and me cry!!! he handed the ass of a new m3 to this driver the other day!!! although I think if it had been from stand still or a csl he could have been the one crying!!!

Yes I did, I'm about in M3 range I guess, I ran a 14.1 at the track in the fall...

Anyway, I've seen modded 1.8t's run mid-low 13's, I guess this guy was one of them. I wasn't superly killed, like a couple car lengths behind I guess.

What Color was it?

I was cruising with a silver dropped VW Golf (debadged) on the QEW oakville area on Friday Night.

I was very impressed with how fast it was. We were going about 160kmish and he was about 4 ft from my rear bumper. I wanted him to pass me, so I could see how my car compared but I guess he enjoyed lookin at my a$$. But looking at the exceleration from 120 - 140 on his ride I no doubt would of had my a$$ handed too me.

Mind you I have a 325i.

For Stock for stock, a Mcoupe will beat 1.8T. But with an APR Stage III kit, the A4 1.8T Quattro will pretty much be even if not a bit quicker than the Mcoupe. If you go custom on a 1.8T high 12 seconds are do-able (and that was on an A4 1.8T Quattro, just imagine if it was on a GTI). I would imagine that an APR Stage III on a Golf 1.8T would be a bit quicker than the A4 cause its lighter. Just look at the December 2004 issue of the European Car magazine if 12 seconds sound too good to be true or visit Audiworld Forums.

funny, I took on a gti vr6, and got my ass handed to me, we were pretty much side by side to 160, then he passed me, 2 car lenghts, i took it to 195 and my damn rev limiter choked me off. He was still going!!!! prolly 220 or more. This was in my intrepid, which is fairly fast from 120 to 180. Well, i gotta say, vr6 gti s are fast!!!! Adam gets my full credit, hes not lying.

edit: this was today, on 403 and erin mills.

You should be faster than a Mk4 GTI VR6 even with the 24V engine and mild modifications like a chip/intake/exhaust.
