Red face took a chipped e46 M3 for a spin today

WOW! took an e46 M3 for a spin today. It's got the paddle shifters (SMGIII?..not sure) and minor tuning with Dinan Stage 2 chip and exhaust. The shift changes was like perfect power-shifting every gear. And the whole F1-style-launch function was just faaacken' SICK. Anyways, I know many members have similar and/or faster cars...but i'm just really impressed....faaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaack i need an M3!

Had a E46 M3 for 6 months before the Z.

Absolutely loved the SMG. The launch control was alot of fun too.

The downshifts are just as fun as the upshifts. Perfect rev matching.

Hopefully BMW get's their chit together with the E90 M3 and finally installs a V8.

Why did you get rid of it?...for the Vette? I used to be/still am a HUGE Vette fan. I'd love to go to one of the Bloomington Gold Competitions!

not sure if it's a download or a direct chip replacement...it is Dinan though.

99% chance of it being a software flash (download). It's the same thing as a chip though, just for newer cars.

I guess they just upgrade the OEM chip itself. I have a Dinan (replacement) chip in my car and i can actually feel the difference in the pull at ~ 4500 rpm...bored of the power now tho.

M3's are very good looking cars. Everything else abut them is overrated.
