How did you find the transition from skiing? easy? hard?

Where do you boys typically go boarding? This past year, we've been to Ste Anne and Jay Peak ... sooo much better than Barrie area!

To be totally honest and having more than 16 yrs in the sport, skiing is not much like boarding, the similarity is that they both are done on snow. If you have ever skateboarded before, and were pretty good at that, you will pick it up quicker in terms of getting your balance points and coordination. The main thing with boarding is you need to have balance and ALOT of patience.

I have taken alot of beginners out with me and they get so frustrated because they keep falling and they wonder why it looks so easy for me to rip down the hill, but they forget that I have almost 20 yrs on them in this sport.
I skiied for 6 yrs before hanging them up to snowboard and I will never go back to 2 planks again. The key is to realize that there is a steep learning curve and you may hate it in the beginning but once you get down the first time without falling, it will be a huge accomplishment!

Really at the end of the day, laugh at yourself when you fall and just have fun with trying out something new, and not trying to master it on the first few trys, because 99% of people don't.

I usually go to Blue Mountain in Collingwood as they have some nice runs, and pretty good after snowboard bars etc to hang out.

I found that snowboarding is more chalenging and it needs more skills, and i Found it more fun to do then skiing, I dunno why, but skis is not my thing, I snowboarded only 2 winters, and yeah I had dozen of bad falls and i hurt myself, but then once you understand how it works it much more fun!!!! i didnt go this year tho maybe this weekend i'll go to blue mountain! I'll see.

Awesome ski Have mine for 2 yrs

Priced too high still. Used skiis have terrible resale and models change yearly. The X screams are already narrow by todays models. Still an awesome ski if you know how to use it.

I'm a skiier, I tried boarding...in fact, my dad has a board (it's funny, people usually think the board is mine), and I borrow it once in a while whenever I want...the thing is with boarding, you have 50% less control as on skis, it's also very unstable at high speed.

I like control and speed. So, i'm still a skiier.

Most of my friends just started off on snowboards first because I guess it's "hip" and don't want to do skiing- they are really missing out.

I'd have to disagree with ya there on that one. I can ride fast and I can hold my edge quite well. Are you comparing people of the same skill level or in general. I think that there is better stability on the board, as you dont have to worry about one of your knees twisting the other way and blowing your knee out. The only thing with boarding is that if you attempt anything, you have to land it, or you are done....
