Looking @ a Honda Ruckus scooter

I was thinking of holding off for another year on a new car since my Volvo dosen't go for an e-test till January 2006. So I will drive the scooter to work and the Volvo in bad weather or longer trips. What the hell.....for $2,699 and you don't need a special licence since it is under 50cc!

Anyone on maX have one? If so post your comments on it and insurance quotes.

Dun get the Honda. It's most environmentally friendly, but it's also the slowest of all the scooters currently available in Canada.

I Recommend the Yamaha BWS-R. Fat tires really make a huge difference if you accidentely hit a pothole (which will happen)- also if your riding downtown over those freaking streetcar tracks. And, there is a large aftermarket following for the BWS-R. The old model was practically the Honda Civic for parts in the scooter world.

Other recommendations are the Vino 125- it can go pretty fast out of the box, and the Aprillia models (if you have the money). They got watercooled 50cc's and they look awesome.

BTW...you do need your M1 licence to ride them- unless you can get it registered as a moped.

Cool! Thanx....I checked them out on the net and they seem cool and the price is only $2,749. And there is a local Yamaha dealer about 30 minutes away from me.

Dave, i just sold my scooter last week. It's a little embarassing driving it around at first, but after you get use to it. If you want economy this is the way to go. Here is the last pic of my scooter

Jay I know it will look hilarious but imagine how much I will save on gas. I was just thinking about how much I put in that Volvo (since the air mass meter is shot) every week or so and it is making me........

Gord that scooter looks cool all blacked out! What is it? What did you do to it? Did you ever figure out the miles per gallon?

Did you wear a black jacket and helmet! LOL!

too tell you the truth, my scooter ate more gas than my 2004 Virago 250. But keep in mind, even after doing an engine swap on the scoot, the 250 puts out way more power no matter what.

The scooter got about 2.4L/100kms (aftermarket 70cc), while my Virago is getting 1.9L/100kms.
When stock, the scooter at best did 2.2L/100kms (stock 50cc)

The Virago is a 250cc V-Twin 4-stroke
The BWS was an aftermarket high-comp 70cc hemi 2-stroke.
