a 98 for 16$ ..with 120k on it
which im a bit skeptical about why it is so cheap...

how do u think this would be insurance wise, (if a parent will be first driver)..
comparing lets say an m3 with an srt4?
If you're looking for something new, u shouldn't be looking at Z3, honestly, I would take an E36 M3 over Z3 anyday. And 99 M3's are in your price range. Around 25 grand.

Seconded. My buddy has an WRB WRX, modded to an estimated 280 hp, and it is phenomenal. Fast, stylish, nice interior, four doors, awesome year round etc.. If I had more money, I would drive a WRX as my daily driver, and focus the 325i more on track and autocross.

Nah...the ultimate car for AlpWhitE46 is a Cadillac! ha ha ..just kidding "old man"!

For that money, you can score a 97/98 540-6 with around 100k, which will eat all the cars mentioned so far. A stock WRX, I've never raced yet, but I expect can take, at least on the highway. Modded WRX ...???????

Are u actually gonna mod it though ?

BTW the WRX is a great option that someone mentioned. I'd take the WRX over the SRT-4. Looks nicer, AWD > FWD, seats 5, etc.

It's hard to believe anyone would consider driving a dodge neon, after driving a BMW for many years. I've driven the SRT-4 at the chrysler track event hosted at the Hershey Center, and it was awesome. So? I wouldn't buy one if it was 10k. I cannot sit in a cheap car anymore...it's impossible to do. It's a DODGE NEON FOLKS. The interior is simply horrendous. Like I said...I cannot believe you're looking into a neon...I guess your tastes or priorities have changed drastically.

Z3 2.8 allllllllll the way. That car can do some damage when driven hard...

I agree . . . . still I think you should keep in mind of resale value . . . . you know that the srt-4 will deprecate quickly but . . . . the BMW will hold it's value for a longer time . . even when it's got high miles.

Just a thought for the E90 down the road . . . . . .

I have a 1995 318ti w/2.8, it's my track car.
I traded my 2003 MINI Cooper S for an '04 SRT-4, it's my daily driver.

My BMW is a very well prepared and capable track car, and I would say is as quick as the SRT-4. In the summer I'll still drive the BMW daily and park the SRT-4, it's just better. Also, the SRT-4 is TERRIBLE on gas. REALLY, REALLY BAD. I drive 850 kms a week, and get 300-330 km per tank. You get punished HUGE when you put your foot down.

I've grown to appreciate the SRT-4's handling after owning it for 6 months or so. It is way more capable than is immediately obvious, if you can get beyond the body roll and soft front-end, you can slide this car through every corner very neutrally, it's very fun.

SRT-4's residual is based on the SX, so expect higher payments and NO market to sell it early. Also, get a 2004 with the 7/115 warranty. 2005's have been reduced to 3/36 because of the abuse.

I like the look of the front, but I still can't get over the big goofy rear wing.

These are just my observations, I can't really help you make a decision.

Julian: Well yeah i would get the m3 aswell, but the z3 is more of a relaxing car/awesome summer car, top down, 2 seater, awesome interior, etc...its a different category, but the m3 then again...no need to comment, awesome car overall, just the fact that i wont have a great amount to pick from as a lot have passed 120k > compared to the z3 of the same years...around 40k >...

For those that said WRX, i don't really like the bug eyes looks much... im more of a fan of the STI...but thats out of the price range..however when i look at it the WRX is a great choice just because of the fact its got decent amount of HP, AWD, easily moddable, etc.

Wind: Oh yeah, cts here i come.

Blitz: Who knows maybe...depending on the car bought...srt4 already comes with better suspension, alright rims, ok system..etc.

GEEE$: We actually have a 95 neon as a beater...so i know how it is...and i mean obviously this gets no where close to a bmw, and im not expecting it to get close...this car will probably just be around for a year or 2...until the e90 comes out. and no my priorities havent changed drastically, i LOVE bmw's.

Skycity: Resale value? can't just look at it like that man...look at this bmw...
bought at 14,000 km in 2002...its 2005 now, has 35,000km on it...
and well its depreciated almost 10,000 in a year... with the e90 coming out...this CAR HAS TO GO...

Scollins: Thanks for the info...appreciate it..

I thought this might take quite a while before we sell it but my dad told me to post on max a feeler for the bimmer...

on the other hand, he told me he wants something that wont depreciate in price for a year or so...
so i showed him the m3's ...which i HIGHLY doubt can depreciate anymore from 16-17k... and he looked quite interested...

these 3...
1)
Dakar yellow. Auto, 240 HP, Alpine CD player, black leather int. P/sunroof, a/c, cruise, sport susp. New performance tires. 160,000 km. $15,900.

2) this is the one im skeptical about

240 horsepower, fully loaded, black on black, Xenon headlight package, 5 spd., runs beautiful, cheapest in the book. 120,000 km

3)Because look at this .... 120000 km $ 25,995.00

manual, 2 dr., 3.2L, 6 cyl., gas, rear wheel, dakkar yellow exterior, black leather interior

I was wondering about the black 4 door as well, it's only like 18 K or sumpin'. And that first yellow e36 is questionable about its M3 status...the mirrors are a good start, and the front grille looks more like a 320i...but I know there were 2 front skirt options with the M3...with or without the middle grill cutout (what would potentially cover an IC).
The more I see M3/4's, the more I like them. It all started with my old neighbour SickFinga when I started to like the 4 doors.
