X3 Facelift

Theyre already doing it ?! That was fast. Guess they realized what the **** they did. First the 7 series, now this.
Could be that, or could be another model coming out.

The facelifted one looks a little too plain almost...

I actually liked the 'old'/current X3 with the body coloured bumpers/sideskirts. I thought it looked pretty good.

Not surprised.
The X3's are selling poorly. Only a third of the quantities of the X5, and BMW had predicted it would outsell the X5.....
And it would if it looked appealing to the masses.

Guess they come to the realization that their 'New Age Look' isn't as popular as they would have hoped. Idiots.

Take me for example.
I'm looking at replacing my Pathfinder.
My first inclination is to look at BMW for a smallish SUV for daily duties.
The concept of the X3 fits my requirements perfectly.
But why am I not even considering it?
Cuz it looks like the rear of a Yak....
I would have bought a X3 already if I could have tolerated the look.
And this coming from someone who is a strong supporter of BMW, and one who places performance over looks.

I'm going to go out on a limb here...

That facelifted X3 won't come out until at least a 2008 model year.

BMW is very strict in how it does things. Vehicle life cycle is 7 years and they facelift half way through... They tend not to stray from that plan.

And have you seen how many X3s are on the road now? Since it's one Motoring's SUV of the year and AJAC's Best New SUV 2005 everyone's getting them...

Last year's numbers were poor, about 5000 units in the first year.

Maybe this year may be better, but the trend is the first year of a vehicle's introduction is usually the car's best year.

Somone once told me that they heard one of the benefits of Bangle's design is they take longer to catch on. This means that while the 1st year sales may not be as high as usual, it ensures that the vehicles sells in later years (which is generally the problem automotive manufacturers face).

X3 are just plain ugly.. it's just a statement that you can't afford a X5..

and by the way.. a 3-series sedan has more legroom in the rear than the X3..

can't really tell what it's going to look like with the plastic clad it's got covering up the new bumper from prying spy photographers. The 2nd pic looks photoshopped though; as if someone smoothed the hood out.
