SR20DET into E30???
What do you guys think about a SR20DET in a E30? anybody do this yet? I heard about it. I owned a 240SX before my e30 and it was a fun car, A friend of mine has one with the SR20DET in it and that is nutz, he did a 12.3 sec 1/4 Mile. Car is really fast. I would like my e30 to go like that. M3 engines are so freakin expensive to get, install and supp up...

I think it would work out to about the same price to be honset, to put an m3 engine in and turbocharge it.

the only redtop SRs came in the early S13s.
all the black tops are more powerful.
the S13 blacktop is rated at 205hp, same as the redtop
the S14 SR is I think 220hp?
and the S15 SR is rated at 250hp.
but the S14 and S15 are OBD II, so they're some issues there...but whatever heh.
also, the S15 gets more power cause it's got no AC, no power steering, etc...

I can get a blck top SR20DET for $2500cdn plus the Intercooler so it works out to about $3000 or so. to put it in would probably be around $2000 and then it would be tight...

The above example would cost SO MUCH MORE. That is a huge undertaking, and there are just so many inherent risks with such a setup.

that's an awesome price for a blacktop setup.
here in vancouver a redtop + install is around $5000 at best. but then again that's with Microtech tuning.
oh, I forgot to add in my other post that the S14 and S15 blacktops got bigger turbos and VVT(variable valve timing...Nissan isn't ghey like honda/toyota and has a special name for it heh)

I went to that website and it comes up to about 6500 bucks. and maybe another 1500 for install...
that would be a fun car. and I guess these guys from calgary did it up a few times, they have all the neccessery parts and everything else...

$6500????????????
all I see that you need is the driveshaft kit & mount kit.
most stuff you can do it yourself, the only thing that I think may be necessary is wiring harness, its not hard just time consuming doing it yourself.

soldering and have a schematics of both cars.
buy a 4x8 board and lay it out, its time consuming.

every swap is the same as far as the wiring harness goes.
you gotta find the wiring diagrams for your car and for the car the motor came out of so you can hook everything up proplerly.
stay bmw...go with an S14(talking about the E30 M3 motor, not the nissan S14) and supercharge it

Hey,
How's it going guys?
I just completed an SR20det swap for my 1984 BMW 318i e30. Its simply a monster. I have a stock set up and destroying Mustang GT's is a piece of cake.
