I would take it apart. Contact cleaner is great stuff but you risk moving the goo to a new and possibly more harmful location.

You can also get electroncs cleaner at Radio shack
The shit evaporates very quickly and doesn't leave any residue
Make sure you spray enough to dislodge the pop you sprayed- don't be a pussy, really get it in there.
Wait at least 1 minute before turning on power.
You can also squirt a little WD40 in there if you don't have any luck with cleaner at first, this will lubricate and remove most of the pop. Then remove the WD40 with the cleaner.

4 buttons on my E30 were stuck because some dick head spilt shit in there so I applied the above solution with great sucess.
it says right on the product, do not spray on circuit boards and electronics :S what the hell?!??!

Well, I won't be held responsible if you screw it up but put it this way... I have done it countless times and never had a problem. So you have to decide on 3 choices.
#1 leave the stickey switch which will continiously piss you off.
#2 take the thing completely apart and clean it with Q-tips which will take hours.
#3 Apply the 'Adriano method' and give her shit and MABEY take the chance of screwing it up.

Betray, just ask over at BB. If your'e going to keep it for very long look at ebay and get the TIS/ETK and KSD BMW disks. In the TIS it will tell you how to remove all the parts you need to know.
