Absolutly nuts but it has been done before.........to many different cars.

Check out this older RX-4 that has had the same treatment.........

Rentech did one on MB SLK230, stock the SLK has 191hp, but after Renntech was through with it by slapping on a turbo the hp went up to 335hp

est. 600hp only? I expected more out of that and the engine must be quite heavy with both the TC and SC.

One of ICS's E36 M3 (US spec engine) is pushing 621whp with the Garette GT35R, but now it's being rebuilt for a larger turbo setup.

They are running at low boost if you haven't wread the site ... if they make it more then the car can't be controlled and I'm sure with stage 3 turbo and a super they can go well over 1000hp

What a joke. Make an efficient turbo setup less efficient by adding on a low-efficiency & heavy S/C.

Sounds CRAZY though... listen to the bypass valve on deceleration on the 2nd dyno run... !!!

How is making it less efficient?

How much do you think the S/C weighs? Well it is alot lighter then adding an engine with bigger displacement or more cylinders.

Well... boost is boost. S/C is less efficient than a turbo (this has been proven 1,000,000,000,000 times and is a KNOWN FACT so I'm not going to argue about it here.). A properly sized turbo would achieve the SAME RESULT without the extra weight of the S/C.

Just like people keep trying to convince me "A single turbo on an LS6 would have too much lag and not be streetable." We proved that to be a load of crap real quick. Single turbo setup on an LS6 saves a fair bit of weight over the twin setup, and the torque curve was basically a straight horizontal line.

If you read up on their page, they do indicate at 2.0bar boost, the car was undriveable. Why? Because the power is not controlled nor is the boost due to the nature of the setup. A single turbo setup at 2.0 bar can be tuned to produce better USABLE power with the same ratings.

Think about it. You could easily connect a hydraulic pump to your engine to spin a hydraulic gear drive which could be connected to the compressor half of a turbo. You could maintain max boost from idle to redline - but that would NOT be usable power. The car would not be streetable. Using a series of clutches, you could tune such a device to hold max USABLE boost from idle to redline which would be amazing and smoke any turbo or S/C setup out there. No such device exists, however some guy who used to work for some bigger company (Jackson Racing or Vortech I think) has gone off to develop such an idea for military purposes.

1BADRIDE I know that a S/C is not as efficent as a turbo since a S/C is parasitic (using HP to gain HP). But just think about how it is used......it is forcing air in that has been boosted by the turbo already.

So the efficiency that you are loosing is minimal to the gain your getting.......and that issue about weight.....you wouldn't even feel it.
