Newer models will have a red dot which lights up if the km displayed doesn't match what is stored in the computer. If you swap clusters the numbers won't match and the tamper dot will light. The dealer can reprogram the cluster to match the computer. If you swap a different cluster and drive around for awhile then switch back to the original cluster to sell the numbers won't match and you will have the tamper dot again.
