You have to keep in ming that during 2001 7 series were around $95 000 plus extra goodies ....740 "face lifted" is more of unique and original bimmer to me. On the other hand Cabrio 330 will hold its value pretty good...
740i will blow you lots of cash on repairs after warranty and may not have good resale value....330ci totaly opposite....I think it's hard to decide...I mean 740s were expensive as hell new in 2001 but look now you can get them for $30 -$40 k !

I originally wanted to buy a 740 but thought it would be nice to drive a smaller car so I bought the 540 instead

Man i love the seven but its hard to have fun in it simply b/c its so big. The 330 would be pimp if u slam it and put a kit and rims..............................but its auto
so this is a very very hard choice
i still can't decide lol

2001 7 series, is that's old body style, so id take the 330. (not that i like the new 7, just that teh old one's getting outdated. At least to be a pimp or show off car.)
330's much more fun.

Well, how good are you with tools?
I say swap engines, keep the 340ci, and sell the 730i.
