Bass Guitar?

My fiance wants a new bass guitar for Xmas. She is very good but I wouldn't mind getting her something as good as a Fender or better.

She mentioned Ibanez and I found this one..........Ibanez EDC705.

Is it good?

Is it expensive?

Well she mentioned that she had a Fender before and wouldn't mind an Ibanez. She isn't in a band and isn't looking for something really expensive.

The Ibanez is more of a starting guitar, or a metal guitar. Very few pros use Ibanez ... don't know why. Fender is obviously very common, and the Mexican Precisions or Jazz Bass are quite nice and cheap ($500). Ernie Ball Music Man is awsome (what Flea plays), but runs about 2K. Like already said, it's vey subjective ... some have fat necks, some are electronic, etc. Not really something you can just pick out. You can also try some used shops. A good guitar (or Bass) will not really lose it's value, unless it's beat on a lot

I think the key here is affordable ... otherwise Warwick would be in the running as well. What's you band called? I'm actually a drummer, so I don't know shit, just what my bass player yaks on about

I have a studio in my basement, where we also do our recording. I started about 15 (holy ish!) years ago in the high school band, and just basically wne tfrom there. Never took lessons (other than band at school). Practice is the biggest key, like in anything else. Start by getting a solid rhythm going, and work on keeping time. Fancy fills are useless if you can't keep everyone on track! Good luck, and have fun!

Ps ... our band website, in case you're bored: www.waitingfordave.com

Update.

She played a Squire P Bass (red) and liked it over an Ibanez. I think she said it was $269+tx. I might go slap a deposit on one this Friday so anybody have info on this one before I go?

i would have a hard time stomaching less then 500 for a decent guitar. i personally find frustrion playing a lower end guitar now. Kinda like driving my POS winter car. If your looking a a fender, and i say fender because squire is useless spelt with an s, look at the jazz series. she'll be much happier with it

BimmerKris I know there is better out there but she just wants something to jam with......not looking to get in a band. Shure there are better bass guitars out there but for the price it has a very very good review from everyone I talked to and even my fiance likes it.

Sky thanx for the link! She played the Squier Affinity P Bass........yes it is a begginer bass but the price is right.
