Online Gambling

I was sucked into Pacific Poker maybe a month ago and started with 20 bux american. I play Texas Hold'm and am now at 80 bux american. I dont think am addicted! but since i play whenever i can, home, school, and if i could, work, my parents and girlfriend (dont worry, there are a few things that take priority over poker) claim i might have a gambling problem... just today i started at 80, peaked at 130, and as i speak, i am back down to 80...

Anyone else addicted to online gambling?
also, if anyone is interested in starting pacific poker, pm me, they have a promotion going on where you could get some free money... and so could I...

Truth Be Told. Gambling = No Good

if its a few one off's and doesnt become an addiction(daily, weekly) thing then thats alright.. but best bet is to stay away from that stuff.. although i hear u can win gazillions in vegas hahahaha .. so do not gamble anywhere but vegas

Tell them that out of all the types of gambling.. poker is the LEAST gambling. Them make them watch Rounders.

Im same boat as you, got into poker seriously like 9 months ago, been to casinos played it online.. overall its not bad, made a few bucks and im learning more and more day by day. (but girlfriend hates it.. and parents arent too pleased either)

How's pacific poker? Lotta people?

Funny, I was about to post the same sort of thing tonight. I never gambled before other than $5 a week on Proline football, then I went to a buddies place for a holdem night a few weeks back. I was hooked (but not addicted) I've been reading like a madman ever since and practicing with play money at pokerroom.com as well as with friends. I'm gonna put $20 on an account soon on pokerroom I think. What limits were you playing to get from $20 to $80?? I'm more into live stuff (so much more fun with a stack of chips in front of you) so dont think I'll be playing much online. How is the casino (niagara I'm guessing) for Holdem?? I read that they only have "NiagaraHoldem" where you have to ante in every hand above and beyond the blinds. Not liking that much. I'm very interested in how the play is and the limits are at the casino.....let me know please

Theres the Heron in Port Perry. Their lowest limit is 5/10 holdem tables. And just yesterday i was at CasinoRama, their lowest limit is 2/5. No antes at any of these. Havent been to Niagra before so I dunno about that.

Its a lot of fun, but you gotta know what you're doing. First time I went to Port Perry I lost 300 in one night. The chips are $5 each and it doesnt feel like you're betting as much as you are.. plus I was nervous. Yesterday at Rama I sat the 2/5 tables (this is about 4 months after the Port Perry experience) and I left the night with 40 on top of what I came in with. I read a lot though on fixed-limit holdem and really improved my game.

Its a lot of fun but you gotta be really careful. Read the people, right away you can tell who'se there just to **** around and who the real sharks are, and just watch out. "Make the best of it when you have it, protect it when you dont. Never give anything away."- Matt Damon.

There isnt really a reason for it to be fixed. The site usually rakes about 10% of every pot so they make their money that way. They could get in serious shit if anyone ever proved their site to be fixed, and they make more than enough profit "legit" so why would they risk it?

lemme just say that you WILL loose it all if you keep playing... I tryed partypoker.com for $100, i was up to $600 in 3-4 days, and then I lost it by going to higher blinds table.. I knew I made bad calls and thought I learned from my mistake, so I bought in another $100, i went to $200 in few days, and what do you know ? I lost it again within few days, so I said **** IT NO MORE !

and by the way I'm no newbie, very decent player I might say.

You're obviously not that great if you lost 200 dollars of your own money(and $600 in tourney money), and just admitted to everyone you made bad calls and didn't learn from your mistakes.

Dude...you ever play Paradise Poker?

How can anyone become addicted, to anything? That's the most ridiculous thing in the world. The word addiction...what? You cannot fight yourself off an urge? Geezus...there are so many week people out there it blows my mind.
