Lightbulb Need advice

I am thinking of buying an E30 off one of the members here ...but am at a loss to figure out how I am going to pay him. I would have the car shipped from To to Montreal --- he suggested I give a certified cheque to the trucker...but how do I know the car that gets loaded is the one I bought!! I don;t have the time to travel back and forth to To. I would be buying the thing basically unseen (except for pics and a description). To be honest I don't know this guy except from this system. Any ideas??

What's the member's name?

You could also use PayPal, with a credit card. It will give at least some security (especially your CC company).

See if this person has a good reputation around the board, and then make your decision. Or like MsANiTy said, go down and look, it will only take a 1 day.

pay $80... take greyhound to Toronto. (4 hours).. sleep or read while on the bus. Have him wait for you at the greyhound station in Toronto.. do whatever checks you need to do on the car, copy down the VIN, etc. etc... and pay $80 to go back home... or drive the car home. Take your pick.

Either way it's not a lot to spend on such an investment.

Don't trust him, you have absolutely no reason to. This is the internet...you have no idea how many cyber thieves are out there. The number is unfathomable.

Take the time to see the car for yourself, by an means necessary. TO to Montreal? C'mon...you can make that trek. If you can buy a car, you can spend a day in travel time to make sure you don't get ****ed over.

You should have a leakdown test, and a compression test performed too. Those are tall-tale signs of how the engine is running.

Good luck...just don't become a statistic.
