starting new project
this is going to be a test for the times....
i am taking possession of an 85 4 door 318 tomarrow. also i am gutting my 2 door 87. now the project begins as such.......installing the 2.5/five speed into the 318(auto) along with the rear subframe and complete suspension.
this is to be finished by "monday", hopefully. i have never mixmatched parts like this on a bimmer, but it shouldnt be to difficult.
anyway i will post pics, and keep ya'll posted with the results.
this other car is not as good as my other one, but it was only $750 and it is running. the only thing is, i want the m20, because i have mantained it. i think i am going to sell the rear subframe from the 318 and the engine, also the suspension. basically anything that i dont need.
anyone in the austin area that will stay up late and gutt this car is welcome to come. beer and food is provided.
i will set up some pics tomarrow of the new car with the old, accually there are some pics on another post but ohy well.

the car arrives
this camera i am using is crappy. anyway here is the new car, 85 318 4 door. i know what your going to say, the rims are rice, why are the calipers blue....shit man i only paid 750 for it and it runs.
it needs interior, and there is a small dent on the fender.
oh well, the project will be underway tomarrow, i will have pics as soon as possible to document the progress.

^^^^thats funny, but they have german written on them?! i have no idea what they say, i get some pics tomarrow. just an update, the guy who towed it over here said he has a 325is, just like my old one, dolphin grey, red recaro leather, it has been wrecked in the front, he say i can have it for 200 buck.
score #2. Jim E., take a trip down here to texas and look me up, these things are falling from the sky. the tow truck driver was trying to get me to take it today, but i told him i'll grab it next week. he is also an upolstry man, said he'd hook it up, that is also because we do a lot of business through them.
anyway, starting everything tomarrow, i will have so many parts not needed, i post a list asap.
laters.

Seb, the more I think about two door, the more I like it and the more I don't like it. Less room for action in the back of a 2 door. Besides, 4 doors are kinda sleepers. No one expects a hot 4 door. Basically this is what I'm telling myself so I don't go and buy a iS with money I don't have.

accually the 4 door is smaller in the back, the seats are shorter, my two door seats are bigger on the hambstring area....
as for the shape of my two door look on the post r.i.p. e30, it was hit by a semi ups truck and was pushed 170 yds down the highway.

engine caomparisn
they are about the same size, probably smaller if the car was standard. so much for getting it done by monday, i am raplacing more stuff since the car is apart. as for the performance side, the 4 door might not be as good, but it will get my full spool m3 diff and the lowered suspension from the IS, i already had lowered springs. i am also putting the alum control arms and offset bushings, new struts and full poly bushings all around.

this is my dog, he helped pulling the engines...not really, but he was in the car with me when things got bad (in the IS). he still wont get in cars and it has been about a month.
aslo this is my bosses car we've been working on, it is a 28 model A sedan, it has a 450hp ford 307 stroker, the car weighs in at 2100lbs maybe, probably lighter then that, notice the 4 door white bimmer in the back, that is my new one.
