what does iA mean?
I always thought it meant automatic. But the sticker on my door says mine is a 325iX/A and its a 5spd, plus my friend was telling me thats not what it means but he wasnt sure what it did mean.
Anyone?

wtf?...tiptronic 325i?..what year?(can't be e36 )
but yeah as far as i am concerned iAs are Auto trannys
i think in ur case the A just a model # or some sh!t....as long as it's not a 325ia...
i don't think 325xia's exist(ed), or 330xia's for that matter..

I work at the dealership so I'm familier with it. The A after a model number means automatic like you said. It's just something for us to know instead of having to walk to the car to find out each time.

Wait a sec, are you guys talking about the stickers on the windows at dealers/autotraders or the manufacturer plate inside the door panel?

i'm pretty sure that A stands for automatic, I've read about it in magazines before. I think that it could possibly be 325iA was a model *available* in automatic, so it was given the A. The owner of 5 speed iA's maybe just didn't want auto. What you guys think? However, I personally doubt that other models couldn't be paired with an auto. We've seen it!

That's what I always thought, but that seems kinda redundant, at least for the past 2 decades no?
