New BMW Inline 6 engine

Well, I got my Road and track today and it said the 3.0L M54 inline 6 will be replaced with what BMW calls the R6.?

Things new about the engine:

- New second generation VVT which increase the rev line to 7000rpm
- Aluminum/magnesium crankcase
- Engine weighs 355lbs, 7% savings over the M54
- bhp has been increased from 228bhp to 255bhp (3.0L)
- The water pump is elctrically driven and controlled by the ECU according to cooling requirements
- Fuel efficency is up by 12%

Sounds like it should be good no doubt!

The current 3.0L already hauls A$$! That extra 500rpm is going to be awsome. Even in my pops car, the automatic shifts at about 67-6800 rpm when in sport mode.

Yeah man, I hear that! Just pull up beside them and blow the doors off them, then they understand!

First off, obviously you never been in a 323 so you are basing your ideas on your opinions. 98 323is, 2.5L, 168bhp..........Been there done that, beat many v-tech preludes. Advantage of a rear wheel launch over front wheel spin.....The preludes are changing into 2nd while I'm not even out of first...preludes are over-rated.........
