Unfortunately, there is more to renting the track than the surface price. You'll also need insurance (which is quite a bit more expensive this year than last...), the possibility of paying some marshalls (if you can't find volunteers to do it for you), an ambulance / tow truck (some tracks, such as Mosport require them) etc, etc.
Not only that, but with Cayuga being shut down at the moment, most of the track time on Fabi is already booked up; even worse if you wanted to book the full / pro track. There are only a few spots available for Nelson.
It's also a little hazardous to just rent the track, and then invite several of your friends, and their friends, and friends of those friends out to the track for the day. Precious few people have a real idea of how to drive safely and quickly on a race track. Should one of those *friends of friends....* lose it and put their car into the wall, it's not hard for them to sue you for the privilege.
If you invite people out to the track without any knowledge of their skill sets / driving abilities, you're asking for trouble. Being quick on the race track is a lot harder than you might think...
