Bringing stuff over the border..
Okay here is the deal:
I am going to PA, US this weekend to retrieve my new seats. For those who've brought stuff accross the border before. What should I do?
1) Should I lose the receipt and say that it was a gift from a friend
2) Should I just say that I bought them for 100 bucks from some guy
3) Or should I just declare the true value
4) Any other options?
I basically would like to minimize the amount of duty I have to pay.

I am actually not sure about the whole declaration process. Who or what determines the value of the seats? The reciept I guess, but what if I don't have one.

Yeah, but I don't feel like driving ~2000km in a bimmer on all sorts of roads. I'll take a minivan, and drive there in comfort.

declare a real value, or ask a guy for a lower reciept.
tell him to write 100 on it and you will pay $15 and maybe some of their stupid fees.

Actually the duty is about 23% for non-US made items.

I am not sure what you are saying. You are kinda contradicting yourself. By law the duty is about 23% (8% import tax on non US made items and 15% federal and provincial taxes) This is for automotive parts imported to Canada.

what I'm saying that I didn' pay any duty on my DVD PLAYER.
I just paid 15%. I got a letter from FedEx, it was saying we got a package and you have to pay. I went to Canadian BOrder Blah Blah Blah with the invoice, I was asked question about what it is and I just paid 15% from the invoice price.
