Temperature of HIDs

I was exchanging email with SickFinga last night about HID upgrades in an InPro ellipsoid assembly. Seeing that the focusing lens is plastic, does that mean that a future upgrade to HIDs is out of the question? Do xenons run hotter than halogen or vice versa.

The reason I ask is that in a defining moment of dumbenss, I had InPros installed yesterday and am not exactly tickled pink with the light output on the rings. So I might return them on Monday.

Anyone have an idea?
