July 6, 7, & 8 ALMS Mosport

This weekend is the American Le Mans Series weekend at Mosport. I'm scaving off work on Friday and taking the '02, ahhh the three day work week. Be in the family beater on Saturday and Sunday.

Highlights include

Field of 25 cars for the ALMS
Prototype class, Audi R8s and an assortment of Lolas.
GTS class, Corvettes, Krohn Barbour Racing's Lambourghini Murcielago R-GT (a first at Mosport) and Saleen's S7R.
GT class, Porsche GT3 RSR plus a few Ferrari 360 Modenas.

Support racing
Field of 25+ for both World Speed Touring and GT
M3s, Porsches, Vipers, Ponitiac GTO, Audi RS6s etc.

Plus Mazda Star series- open wheel spec series with RX8 motors, and a big field of Civics.
Tickets are cheap, $65 at the gate for the weekend including complete pit access and the drive is only 45mins from Toronto.

Be advised, Durham Regional police are total pricks and will have speed traps set up on Waverly Road and the access road running east towards the track so watch yer speeding.

Question, does it get really crowded that weekend? Is it almost impossible to move from one part of the track to the other quickly?

Not really

The only reason I like going on Friday is there is virtually nobody in the pits so you can take good pictures, get a close look at the cars and talk to the drivers. Getting around the track is no problem during the weekend. If you haven't ever been you should check it out.

Is it difficult to get nice views if I'm video taping? As in people are fighting for the best spots to take pictures or videos?

Nope

Dead easy, there is no catch fencing and tons of good viewing spots. Good spots include...
Outside corner 1, top of 2, inside or outside 3, 5 and outside 10.

Sweet thanks, I just wanted to see if I'll get my money's worth! Thanks.

Oh and one more question, do you suggest bringing a mountain bike to navigate around the track or would you rather do that via car?

I'll definately be going! I love watching the american le mans live. jm1602 is right, there's quite a number of spots where there is no fence and you can take pictures right next to the track. (and a few really good ones if you sneak into some forested areas too )

Nice pictures.

Corners 2, 3 and 5 good spots for sure. We were all over the place Friday and Saturday so we carved out a spot next to the fence at 5b on race day. Based on your pictures you must have been right next to us. Couldn't believe the crowds compared to the last couple of years, I got to 5 at 8:30am and still didn't get my usual spot. I might have time to post my pics tonite.
