yep... those are old by the way, been around since the 80's.... wasn't a digital readout though... but a flipboard (if anyone remembers those still?).

you won't get a ticket... as mentioned, it's just a reminder...

I wonder if the sensor could spot smaller objects like a R/C, I want to see how fast some of these cars really go

No... it uses an older technology of having 2 markers on the road... usually ropes on the pavement. It calculates the time between you going over rope 1.. then rope 1 and gives you a km/h in return.

If there were no ropes on the road, then they've upgraded their systems and use a regular radar detector... again, won't work unless you're in a car where it can reflect a double speed back to the gun.

You can always just time how long it takes for the RC to go through 10 metres at top speed with a stopwatch, and calculate from there how many km/h it's going at...

I tried passing one of them on my mountain bike...it was late at night, nobody about...17mph (Dunno how fst that's in kph...)

There wasn't any ropes or anything...I guess it must be a radar camera.

figures... I know the government still uses the rope system and a blackbox on the side of the road to calculate how much traffic a road gets at different times of the day.

^^^ so if you get like 2 people jump at the same time 2 times on that rope won't it make it seem like a car was going really really fast?
