FYI.. the needle will not even go that far, it will stop long before it gets there. The needle should run out of rotation at about 240-250kph.

Pointless to extend it beyond there, as its only for looks. Even IF the needle could go past there, its not like you have enough power to move your e30 with brick like aerodynamics that fast.

Thanks captain obvious for your useless comment yet again.

I'm sure anyone with common sense would know its strictly for looks.

you'd be surprised. Ask someone who knows nothing about cars except how to operate them, how fast their car goes, they'd look at where the speedo maxes out and give you that as an answer.

I'm quite sure there are alot of people here that do not realize that the speedometer needle actually hits a "wall" and cannot rotate further past the 240-250kph range.

The tachometer for example, can keep rotating to what would be 10.5-11,000 RPMS if the guage read that high. I somewhat doubt it would be acurate that high tho, as it is outside of its designed operating range. Why the speedometer cannot perform the same function mechanically I'm not sure.

E60 m5 got it upto 330km/h

Ohhh and I agree with Jordan, thats a poseur thing to do.

But some speedometers will actually go in circle. (ie old Dodge Caravans) In fact if you reverse fast it will go counter clockwise and you can hit 180 in reverse.

anyway, if you want it, get a real deal

my speedo only reads up to 240km/h, but I rather spend some $$$ and get one that reads correctly

I've repeatedly gone above 230 in my car, and that was last year before any mods.

Funny that comment came from a E36 318 owner.

any idea how much hp you need to push a e30 to 180 mph?

an exgirlfriend of mine told me she was sure her Deisel Beetle would do 160 since the speedo goes to that. lol

I agree about the speedo thing, i did not know that the e30 speedo onyl rotates to an extent, until I took mine apart. found that is a good way to learn.
