How much oil should our e30s burn?

Mine uses about 1 litre every 3000 KM?

Anyone?

I guess you probably would have seen, but you aren't leaking any over a slow period time? Valve Cover Gasket? Cam seals? Oil Pan gasket? Leaky heli coil?

Most likely sounds like you may be burning oil, but you should check other options.

over time, your valve guides and piston rings will start to wear out, then you will start to burn oil...

How many km's on your car?

I would say 1 liter every 3000-5000 km is not anything to really worry about.

Oh yeah, it leak oil. It's my oil pain gasket i think. I pass emissions fine and there is no blue smoke coming out of the tail pipe.

Also in our Bentley manual in Section 4 Engine on page 7, it says " Some oil consumption is normal and indicates healthy flow and distribution of the vital lubricant in the engine. BMW states that the maximum allowable oil consumption for the engines covered in the manual is 1 quart per 390 miles."

Thats crazy, 1 quart 390 miles? That is like 1 litre every 800KM.

Burning some oil is normal....and I mean some (very minimal)...even new cars do it. This is especially true with a cold engine when the metal is cold and isn't expanded. Also, higher mileage engines have some wear...this will cause a little oil to get by too. Nothing to worry about....unless your consuming large amounts of it that is.

415,868km and its only burning 1 liter per 3000km...damn I'd be happy with that.
