Quick Question

Can you guys explain what is a 'kickdown' in steptronic?
I been reading lots of post and they talk about 'kickdown'. If I have to guess, is it similar to a downshift in a mnaual transmission?

I don't have a step.. but from my one experience driving it, I believe that a kickdown would be when you just put it to the floor in say sport mode for example, your transmission will electronically drop down a gear from where you are, depending on what gear you are in. This will boost your RPM's by a good deal and give you much harder/quicker acceleration until the tranny upshifts back to your original gear.

when you hit the gas pedel all the way down you will feel a click, that activates the kickdown switch, the car will then downshift
