Diesel version is quicker, and faster! And much more economical to boot! That's the one to have.

yes it is true more hp and more torque and much more km to the gallon compare to gasoline.

the other side to consider:

maintenance cost more, injectors cost a lot more. you got to know all stations where they carry diesel. your BMW is always smells like a truck. your hand is always smell like diesel after pumping diesel fuel because most truckers use the pump. you don't really want to change the oil your self or work around the the engine compartment because if you get the used oil on your skin, it'll stain and smell for along time (from experience). if you park it inside the garage ... well then your garage smells like a truck stop ...lol.. my buddy is a diesel mechanic and recommended not to buy diesel engine when i bought my truck last year. a couple months ago i borrowed my friends 2001 VW diesel. the fuel gage was on E and the light was on i drove 60km with it and still hadn't run out of fuel and finally found a gas station with diesel. after pumping went back inside the car then i smell the diesel fuel. it was on my hand from the pump and now it's all over the steering wheel so i made a stop and wiped the steering wheel, washed my hand and continue driving in a few seconds later i can still smell the diesel fuel and turn out to be on the floor mat but then i told him about this incident and he said don't worry about it because he is used to it .....

bottom line to own one is better on gasoline and mod it but to borrow is better on diesel because you got to pay for the fuel ....lol ...

re: 1 series

While i was in Austria 2 weeks ago, I caught up with a 1-series introduction event...
Kind of funny actually, bar inside the tent with drinks and martinis, and all attendees were welcome to test drive the cars as well around the lot & outside a bit too (with representatives by the passenger side..)

Kind of a drinking & driving invitation, but that's europe for you..

Anyhow, nice car, good competition for the compact luxury rides such as audi a3, golf gti, mbz c-coupe, and others.. Checked it out inside though and it's certainly no 7 series to say the least
Although the bmw touch is still there...
