My brother's E46 M3 broke down

We were on the highway going towards Waterloo and all of a sudden his check engine light came on and the car started hesitating, then stopped. He got it towed to BMW, where they diagnost the problem to be electrical. They replaced whatever that caused the problem under warranty. He got so pissed of the car coz it never ran the same, so he traded it in for an STI, which he is curently macking out, custom wide body, engine work, etc. He loved the M3, put nice 19 inch Breytons and the car looked so sick, but I guess lost intrest when it broke down.

ouch damn.. sorry 2 hear man..
respect to your dad, but i think it's a bit over-reacting to leave BMW after this... I had several problems with the Z4 but that don't mean that I never buy a BMW anymore..

but the sti is also a great car

I know, but I can see my brother's view though. He spent $70K on a car that breaks down after 4 months, and then never ran he same. He was fed of taking it to BMW once a week and them saying everthing is ok. Anyways that's his choice, and believe me I was talking him into still keeping the car. Oh well.

NICE, you know what i would do the same thing!!

Bmw's aren't as reliable as people make them seem, there are tons of better cars out there, especially nowadays, the STi is a LOT better bang for your buck, more practical with the 4dr's fast as hell, and overall a great vehicle, and i know how it feels when you have to put up with so many little headaches with your car it becomes such a pain!
