what are some common problems of the E38? my dad is about to buy one so i was just wondering. and i love the movie "The Transporter" right up until they kill the 7 in it

Depends on the year and miles/km's on it. Suspension, hoses, pixels,radiator,cats,window regulators,oil separator,oil pump bolts and noises.
If you can't afford to maintain it, don't buy it. Some pay nothing per year and some pay >$3000USD. I pay very little.

its a 1995 740i with 106,000 miles and a new engine with 40,000 miles on it. it doesnt have navigation or cd player.

Showin my age
I've got a 1985 735i. Just rebuilt drive shaft, most of the smaller engine parts - alternator, etc., need to get the darned speedometer working. Odometer says 156K+, and I know I have probably put 8-10K on it since buying it. Who knows how much is really on it. Runs perfectly, shifts perfectly, a hell of a car.
