E39 Sequential Auto

hey guys, i have got an E30 at the moment but im saving up to buy a 5 series of some sorts, whetehr its a late E34 or an early E39. When i was researching, it said that the 5 series only came out with Sequential Auto's in Australia. I drive a manual now and love driving it.

Does anyone own a sequential auto in the E39? r they a good design by BMW?

Sequential, you mean, an actual sequential transmission like a motorbike or a mclaren? Where you can't go directly to neutral? Or you mean paddle shifters? I've seen paddle shifter install guides on bmwtips.com i think... but a seq tranny would be frickin' awesome!

the steptronic, that's what BMW calls it, didn't come out till 99 on the E39, SMG only came out on the new E60

But a manual tranny is still available on the e39- just get the third pedal, you know you want it!

Well, heh, why would you want either? It shifts faster than a manual in sport mode and is fully auto in, uh, auto mode. Heh.
