GTI 16v vs 328iS

I ran my friend Mike(Mikester on here) last night. I have an 89 GTI 16v with a few mods, he has a 328iS with an intake. He also had a passanger.
We lined up at a light and we were pretty even off the line till the top of 2nd gear, then my car stalled. It was nothing serious, just a sensor connector that came off. I put it back on and made sure it wouldn't come off, and we lined up again after a few minutes.
The light turned green and we went. I got him off the line, and pulled about 1.5-2 cars on him till the top of 3rd gear, then I think he let off.
We lined up again, but I launched pretty shitty, I almost bogged, then I spun at 5000rpm till I caught some traction, he was already about 1-2 cars in front of me by the top of 1st gear, and I couldn't catch him after that.
I was suprised he couldn't pull on me. I think we gotta run again and both get clean launches. He should be quicker on top end thats for sure.
Maybe we'll line up at the track on wed if he wants to come down.

I ran a 15.6@89mph at the track. The 60' was 2.4 tho. My car will run low 15s with a 2.2 or 2.1 60' time
