Need Opinions on Rims

Hi,

I normally believe that rims are a very personal purchase, but I think a combination of having so many options is leading to a bit too much second-guessing. So I thought I would ask for board wisdom on these. I am upgrading from 15x7 OEM 10spokes. The car is a 97 328i, currently entirely stock. I am planning a number of mods for this summer and had sort of planned them in this order:

i) upgrade rims and tires, with options on rims including:
ACE Monaco 17x7.5 (38mm offset)
Mille Miglia MM11-2 Anthracite 17x8
OZ Superleggera Tuner Silver 17x8 (40mm offset)
Hamann HMIII 17x8.5

In all cases, the tires are Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 225/45/17

ii) X-brace and RD front stress bar (going on tomorrow, before the wheels)

iii) Bilstein Sport Shocks with HR OEM Sport Springs (most likely next spring unless I take total leave of my senses)

Anyhow, back to the rims. Can you tell me what your thoughts are? I have pics for each one but can't seem to get them posted when I preview.

I'm looking around for the HM3's myself. but i still didn't find them anywhere (didn't really start looking yet though) . i'll be bying them next year after winter probably. so i voted for those. let me know if u find any prices on those and how much would they be with tires.

i wanna get 245/40 R17 rear and 225/45 R17 front which would be 17"x8.5" rear and 17"x7.5" front like on a M3.

the other thing where did y get the X-brace and for how much?????? and how much is it gonna cost ya to install everything????

Try Tunerworks in Calgary (www.tunerworks.com) for the rims. I haven't really found anybody who can touch them or rim prices. They quoted me $479 rim for HM3's.

I am picking up a used X-brace from them for $180 and am not sure how much for the RD stressbar. Install on the X-brace is running about $50.

HM3's only come in 17x8.5 I believe. I dont think you can get them in a 7.5 width. Hamann is stubborn like that.

I have the Mille Miglia MM11-2 Anthracite 17x8 on my silver E36 (stock), and it also has the Sports Pkg. I went with 235/40/17's Kuhmo 712's. Probably the setup you'd want to go for too.

Anyhow. Depending on what colour your car is. These rims may not work for you?? I'll be posting a pic soon. Were you looking at getting them soon? The anthracite colour actually looks pretty good in my opinion on my silver car. Been getting a lot of compliments too.

Goto the Hamann Website, there you will find Hamann Wheel Centre. Wheel Centre is a Flash site, so you gotta install Flash Plug-in first if don't have it. Then you can choose the model of BMW you have and try the wheels you like on it.
