There is a baffle where the snorkel connects to the air box. Just remove the box and take out the filter so you can see in, and there is a clip and you slide out the baffle. I didnt notice any gain myself but Ive hear talk of a few hp.

I'll take a pic of it once i find my airbox. Duffy got it right though.
There will be a small snorkle connecting from beside the radiator, connected to the front of the airbox, you remove that, and you can see the baffle there.
Remove the airbox from the car, remove the filter cartridge. The baffle has to be uncliped from inside the airbox. Once the baffle is removed the hole going into the airbox will be as large as the one on the snorkle. Put everything back together minus the baffle, start the car, and you'll notice more induction noise. It's up to you if you want to hook the snorkle back up.

When you're stopped in traffic you'll suck in some hot engine bay air. Aside from that, nothing really, even more induction noise.

If I interpruted your question correctly, no do not remove the little mesh where the MAF is.

The baffle plate is located at the front of the airbox. Front as in the section that connects to the snorkle tube. You will see a tab on the outside of the airbox. Press that clip down and you can slide out that chunk of plastic out and the opening will be the same size as the snorkle tube.
