s52 coupe owners....
I was driving the car around today.... suddenly found there is a little whole at the end of the speedo...... first I thought it's the place for the backlight.... turns out it's not...... does anyone know what's that for???

No hole on mine but there is, what appears to be, an L.E.D. light at the 280+ range.
Could it be for the people who remove the speed limiter?

Ya i've noticed this aswell, its on my E36 as well, i've always wanted to find out if i could maybe turn it into a shift light and make some use out of it!

I thought that hole was for a light sensor or something....

it's for people that tamper with the speedo....then they try to disconnect the onboard computer that light comes one...
...i think i recall reading that somewhere...
so, if anyone wants to disconnect their speedo to find out, be my guest
