Leaking Gas tank........

I have an e28 and if i top off my tank gas leaks from the top somewhere on the pasenger side of the car, ive seen this before in the same spot on another e28 whats the deal with that??.... any suggestions???

yea i got one buy another car jerky!! naa you know mine does the same damn thing so that makes two of us... still dont know where it comes from may need to drop the tank...

My E30 did the exact same thing. It was the hose from the filler neck to the tank. My mechanic had a very good used one and it wasn't very expensive.

So check the hose before you replace the tank!

hey as speaking from experience, on those particular tanks they have three small steel lines coming from the top of the tank along the filler neck as vents and they always rot away causing the fuel to leak out, the tank will need to be dropped and sent out for repair if it is still repairable, they usually solder in new lines and recoat the tank, hope that helps

yea my e30 same thing on the driver side though it was one of those lines . it was hard to get someone to drop it to fix it , nobody wanted to touch the driveshaft and mufler to drop the tank always told me its not fixable or to rusty to touch . i found this one guy who had a 318 and took his tank and switched it . i saw my tank . rusty line could have been fixed for like 50 bucks . cost me 300 for the work and swap . i need a work area !!! good luck guys
