WTB: BMW 318Ti

Hi...

I'm looking for a BMW 318Ti with 5 speed manual transmission, sunroof and foglights. If you have one for sale, please PM me your asking price, the model year and the mileage.

Thanks.

Hi...

Thanks for your reply. I've already checked autotrader, however, most of them are automatics, and they're being sold by dealerships. I prefer to buy from a private seller.

When it comes to tis you just have to be patient. I picked up both of mine from dealers through the autotrader and both times I talked the price down and didn't pay GST.

What year are you looking for?

There's one down this way but you probably don't want to come to NS i'm assuming. Its red, sunroof, five speed etc... Check canadatrader.com if youre interested.

I don't really care about the year (well, I should say the newer the better), but then again, as long as the mileage and price are reasonable, I will consider it. Thanks.

There is a very nice Sport for 14k in Hamilton. Take a look in the autotrader

Oh...the black one? But I think $14K is a bit high. The black book value for that car is around $9K and that's probably what the dealer paid (maybe even less) for the car. I don't think it makes sense for a dealer to make $5K on a $9K car. Even if the dealer is willing to reduce the price a bit, say $2K, the dealer is still making about $3K on a 6 year old entry level BMW. I don't think BMW dealers even make that much on a brand new 3 series!

That's why I prefer to buy older used cars from private sellers - at least private sellers are not trying to make a profit - most of them just to get rid of their cars at a fair price. Also, I can save the GST too.

Kirasir: would you consider selling your 318Ti?

Believe it or not but 14k is actually a fair ASKING price for that particular car with that milage. Sports are rare and usually have a pretty thick mark up above Active and Base trims (especially if they are stock and unmolested).

>>Kirasir: would you consider selling your 318Ti?

Which one?

SL

BTW are you looking for a daily driver or a track car?

You mentioned you have 2 318Tis right? Seriously, are you planning to sell one of them? If yes, can you tell me the details?

It'll be my second car (more for fun and to practice and maintain my manual tranmission driving skills), so it's not really a daily driver, and definitely not a track car.

Sorry they are both not for sale. I've invested way too much time and money into one of them to sell it, while the other one is my daily driver.

Good luck with your search.

SL

PS If you are looking to have fun with your future car, you might want to join BMWCC (if you haven't already) and start attending autocrosses/driving schools.

here is one off the 318ti list:
Quote:
The ti I'm sadly selling is in pretty good shape. I just bought it at
the end of November as we had the need to have 2 vehicles as my wife was
planning on returning to work. Unfortunately she is unable and I can't
justify the two cars. My loss is your gain.

As mentioned it's a 96 ti with approx. 147K (88,000 miles) It's a stock
'Sport' model 5 speed with sunroof/fog lights etc. I've just had the
driver window regulator and clips replaced as well as the thermostat and
belts. I've had the rad flushed and changed the plugs with bosch
platinums. It runs very well. Occasionally a check engine light comes
on with a fault code for the cat, it goes off after a couple of days
hence it may need a cat soon.

I'm in Ottawa Ontario Canada, I've just put it in the autotrader and am
asking $12,500 cdn, my bottom line is $11500. (that may change depending
on interest) In us dollars that's about $8700 US to $9500 US.

It also has brand new tires as of the beginning of December.
