540i vs. WRX/VR6

Instead of making two posts, I will just make one about two kills.

Alright, so there I am at 3pm, getting off of work, minding my own business. I am weaving slowly through traffic (I wanted to get home), and I get to a red light. I look over to my right (I am in the far left lane on Dixie, heading north towards 407), and there is a nice silver WRX. I glance at the drivers window, and he is looking at me with a big grin on his face. Now, I know what he was probably thinking "Who the **** does this kid think he is in his daddy's ride". I guess he thought wrong, we left the light normally, and right as we both get into second, he floors it. I immediatly give'er. As I pass him, he looks at me, and I oblige his previous grin at the light by chirping third, then chirping fourth. I guess he should take a lesson on how to bang a gear, because after I hit the top of fourth, I was about 3 car lengths ahead.

Poor bastard, anyways onto my second kill. At the exact same light, and the exact same situation I find myself with a Jetta VR6. Once again the guy has a shit eating grin on his face. This time we go from a dig, fortunately I have had long enough to figure out how to launch this. Out of the hole I had him by about 1 car, and proceed to pull another two cars (totaling three) on him by the top of third. I shut down because I don't want him to look like an ass. I get onto the 407, and he thinks he can hang with me on a corner. So I decide to push it, he starts dropping back again. I slow, and he decides he doesn't feel like passing me for the rest of my trip home on the 407.

Good stuff, I love this car.

ahhh yes the nice sweet power of the V8, aren't you just loving it, because of its smooth & seamless power I got a damn speeding ticket last night

V8's are nice, but you should try a 420hp V12, now that's seemless and powerful.

Its different, my neighbor has a brand new SL600. Its more torquey, but not as seemless.

im pretty sure the WRX woulda done ALOT better if the driver how to drive his car or if he was racing

I think so to. But when you get up to 4th in the rex, it sucks.

well not necceessarily.... if i read your story correctly, looks like the race with the WRX was from a rolling start... no launching....
WRX's aren't THAT quick if you're from a rolling start... they get such a great 1/4 mile time from their AWD....all in their launch... look at their trap speed and you know what i mean..

but anyone ever take them off a rolling start then it isn't that hard specially with a 540i... i'd bet my money on your 540i any day if it was from a rolling start...

true too..... in 4th, the rex's turbo run outta steam..... small 13G turbo's... ain't that big..

i've raced my friend's stock wrx... he takes me off the line ALL the time.. like crazy... but from a roll.. i've took him once...

the newer wrx's tho.. i dunno... not familiar with the changes in those... so can't comment on that..

but the 540... dunno 'bout that..... think the 540 would whup me...
