318is or 325is, better for track use

which is better without engine swap for track use, the 318is i think would be lighter with 4 banger, but under powered? or would the extra weight of the 6 in the 325is not matter with 170ish hp?

Obviously same chassis.

a lot of people would argue..

I say both are a lot of fun.. but the 325 has a little more power to play with, and that comes in handy even when your trying to steer and transfer weight to the back on your exits

I'd say go for the 325is but that's just my opinion. Test drive both and then figure out which you like better! And make sure you test drive lots to get a good handle on what the good 325's and 318's feel like.

if you're gonna turbo it, you could pull it off with a 318is... otherwise 325is, its such a big power difference that it outdoes the weight diff.

Old car 1990 325ix. Current car 2000 540i.
