I agree with you.

The BMW and the Merc's about even in accleration, but as I keep on saying, there's more to a car than acceleration.
The 645 has better braking, and absolutely slaughters the CLK in G's. Around a track, the BMW would leave the Merc like it's standing still. All that, and the BMW's quieter and gets better fuel economy. Let's not get into the resale value of these two cars.

Sorry, I see the 645 owning the CLK.

Please keep on posting these comparisons so we can all confirm what we already know, that BMW builds some of the best all around performance vehicles. Next......

Yeah, a 6-speed manual 645Ci would be a fun ride. Probably runs E39 M5-like times, judging from the auto numbers.

I think the stat that I find the most interesting, is that the bmw is quieter than the benz. Isnt Benz supposed to be luxury?

HP to weight ratio would say the E39 should hold off the 645i manual. But if it can get a 13.7 with an auto, even being conservative you'd suspect mid 13's easy with a stick......

Look at that auto time, 13.7. I'm willing to bet one with a proper gearstick will run at least 13.3's. With those 275 rears, I'm sure it can take a lot more beating on launch, to the level that left-foot braking can't produce.

Note that R&T themselves clocked the M5 at a 13.3 time. It would be damn close.

Yeah, the 645i absolutely killed, by 3 seconds all the AMG 55 Mercedes as well as the M3 CSL. This one is just a CLK500.

645i does come with manual- and there are rumors of an M version...with the M5's rumored V10.

With that logic, Dodge Neon SRT-4 owns BMW E46 M3.
which would YOU rather have parked in your driveway?
