Mine are actually the oem M3 trim. I specially ordered it from factory this way. Cost me about $1300.
What i've heard is that it's a huge pain to replace those.

you can replace the chrome trim with the M3 shadow trim but it is a pain in the neck. You have to be VERY careful when removing the trims because the clips are fragile and they will break very very fast. hope this helps. Also, the parts shoulkdn't cost more than 300$

yeah, tell me about it. I was the very first customer of budds to do this on a non-m. This was before the m-sport packages were out. The parts if i can remember(this was in 2001) were $700+tax. Things might have changed now though.

But it's totally worth it. The silver trim around the windows breaks the cars lines up. The black blends right in and looks much sharper!

oh boy! And I wanted to put chrome on my e46 sedan! I think i'm starting to like black for the same reason sonny said, but mine isn't the M3 painted black its the rubber one. I saw the one Bliss has on his car at the Darknights show back in the summer. Do you guys know if they make that one for the sedan! I'm a DIY kinda guy so it won't cost me much.
thanx.
