Question Exhaust diameter???

Just wondering if a 1995 M3 O.E.M. cat back exhaust will bolt up directly to a 1996 328iS?

I'm not sure, but I think that the pipe diameters are different from M3 to 328iS.

Also, would I gain, or loose perfromance???

Any advice will be greatly appriciated

Thanks,
Dom

hey the m3 exhaust will bolt directly to your 328...it'll give you a lil' bit more power. you're looking at maybe 5 horses, I've heard rumors of numbers like 10 or higher but I'm skeptical. fact of the matter is stock AMERICAN production exhaust is built to follow DOT and better. Unless you're getting this m3 exhaust for free or dirt cheap don't bother and get a performance cat-back. Borla is the way to go if you want my opinion, best sounding and quality system I know of. Besides custom titanium... If you do decide to go aftermarket know that if its a direct bolt on to an M3 it will fit your car

Thanks for the info 325phoenixbmr...

I foiund an M3 exhaust for a decent price so I might just try that for now. I have herd that Borla is an awsome exhast. I'll definitely look into it.

info is greatly appriciated

325, 328 and M3 exhausts are interchangable.

the major diff for brands like SS and Remus are that the M3 specific exhausts have a slightly longer pair of tips to extend beyond the rear diffuser of the factory motorsport kit.

The Tri-Flo cat-back I have on my 328iS came off a '95 M3, no fitment issues whatsoever. Aside from the tips and the "flap", I don't think there's much difference between the M3 and the 328 exhaust.
