What tires...

I deseratly need to replace my back tires..
they are 245/40ZR17 michelen Pilot Sports...
the fronts are 225/45ZR17 pilots as well...
I want to keep a matching set but the pilot sports are just way to expensive and I wore a brand new set within 4 months and about 20,000km.

what other tires can you guys recomend that will be equivalent but not as expensive...

I've read in a few magazines that the Kuhmo ECSTA MX tires are the best performing for the price.... Now does that mean that they will even come close to the performance of the Pilots..

I dont want to spend more than $700 if possible...

VS.

For the price you pay for the Kuhmo's they are pretty decent tires. I heard they weardown quick though.

Go here and knock yourself out by looking at tires and looking at some of the reviews and writeups.

Go here to look at at whole bunch of 225/45/17 tires....

i got the kuhmos on my car, and i can't complain about them at all. i never had any other ones though so i cant really compare.

the way i see it. im gonna go thru a set of rear tires every summer so i dont see a reason to buy tires that are $360 each (pilots or S03's) and keep replacing them in the spring. for $360 u can get 2 kuhmos with tax and maybe even install if ur lucky

these tires lasted me thru last summer (may to october) and i drive 35K a year. and i'll be getting 2 new ones pretty soon again.

Kumho doesnt wear down very quickly, but they got no grip.
2 Kumnos will run you about 500 taxes in.

I am going to be replaceing the tires on my roadster when it goes back on the road ( late April ). If you can wait you can have them cheap. They are the original Dunlops, same size as you need. Figure on 50-60% tread left, 26,000km on them. I want to go wider all around so they will be coming off no matter what. You should be able to get a year out of them. Let me know if you are interested.

I wore My Michelen Pilots off in 1 summer as well....also relatively easy driving....
thats why I thought maybe just go with some cheap tires that way I can actually afford to replace them...

but at the same time I dont want a tire thats going to have way less grip or stability then the front pilots...

I went to that site mitch posted and they have a great selection and lots of information..and believe it or not they ranked the kumho ECSTA MX only 3 tires below the pilots...and that was out of at least 20 tires..it ranked 7th..

Here are my tires I have on my 19z. They are Excellent tires. I would definitely buy them again. Tread wear is great too. This is going to be my 3rd summer with these tires and they have lots of tread left. Mind you... I don't drive aggressive, burnout or take hard corners. Just everyday regular driving. Check the review at the bottom. These tires are decent in pricing too. Call Johnston and Magwood for pricing on these or any other tires in your size. Talk to Atilla only. He'll give you a good price. (905) 277-3143.

I personally have no experience with the Kumho MX's, but I was going to buy a set until I realized they didn't make them in the size I wanted. I researched a lot and for the price they kick ass. I've messaged a few people with them and they say nothing but good about them.

I'd get them, they're not terribly expensive anyway, and downright cheap when compared to Pilots or SO3's.

When you guys say that the Kumho's wear quickly, which Kumho's, the 712's, or the MX's?

I know I'm gonna sound like a weenie to every single guy in here who actually runs Kuhmos, but they're garbage. Good for the price, yes, but that doesn't make them a good tire big for Kuhmos.

They are made out of cheaper grade rubber, forget the compound type, but every honest tire dealer will tell you they're not performance tires in the least.

After all my friends who didn't have big money went with Kuhmos came to me after two months complaining because they are junk tires saying they should've spent the extra hundred a tire and bought REAL high quality tires I decided that I'd never recommend them to anyone... ever.

Personally, Michelin/Pirelli are the way to go, so I'd grab the Pilots

How hard are you guys driving! LOL, I've had my Pilots for 2 summers now, ZR rated, and the fronts are like brand new, and the rear will probably last through this summer. Personnaly I love the michelin pilots, I'm probably sticking with them. I had a friend that got a set of Kuhmos put on, he said they had good grip in the rain, but thats where it stopped, he is replacing them with something else this summer.
