Cheap engine mods

Looking to do some basic engine mods to my car, which mods will be most cost effective and make a decent difference in performance?

Just my 2 cents.... get a CAI and your engine will breath easier and rev smoother.

- Fan Delete Mod (6hp or so), a little more throttle response too, about $150
- ZM3 short Shifter and a clutch stop, makes for a funner drive. $150
- debaffle your airbox, you'll get a nice growl at WOT (wide open throttle $free
- ASC delete, you won't have traction control, but you'll get a little more throttle response, and it's reversable for winter time. $20

Go to www.understeer.com for more info on the fan delete and ZM3 shifter.

They're cheap. Feel free to ask anymore questions. I've done all these mods.

At home or at a shop, the ZM3 short shifter is the only real time consuming one. The fan delete can make a mess if you're not careful where you drain the coolant. The ASC delete requires 2 bolts to be removed and 2 clamps to be tightened (like 10 minutes to do), and the debaffling airbox requires you to remove the airbox and remove the baffle for the air coming into the airbox (10 minutes)

I've installed all these myself (along with the rest of my mods since I bought my car)

I don't think you can do this on your 318. There is nothing blocking the airbox and no butterflies in the exhaust.

This is most likely only for 328's.

The best free mod you can do is weight reduction. It costs nothing and the performance gains are significant.
