how about a turbo??? the reason that i would not wann go to a 325 or even a m3 is because dere would be to much work that would have to be dun like upgrading the brakes and the suspension and so on where as maybe a turbo would be round 5 g's and sawp would end up costing colse to 10 k maybe??
thanks for ne help at all
cheers

there's very few companies who offer supercharger kits for the 318 engine, but it is possible.
You can expect the car to have the same if not better performance than a stock e36 m3 in the end too which is pretty darn good for the money spent on it. (m3 motor swap costs about $9000 + all the other little things you need to change like you mentioned)

A turbo would be easier to install if you plan on going custom though. The brackets I've seen the 318 supercharger kits use looks like they'd be a pain to fabricate.

S/C 318 better preformance than a stock M3.....mmmhh...doubt it, I reckon it will kill a 325 and keep up with 328's...
Then again it all depends on the amount of boost being used.

325's and 328's are basically the same (there's something like a 1hp difference ), and a boosted 318 would blow both of them out of the water hands down, no contest. I'm pretty sure it could also hang with a US Spec M3 as well, if not beat it because the 318 would have around 210bhp and the m3 is not much more (on a good day too mind you).

MMmmhh....US spec BMW's maybe. I am only thinking in German spec's as that's what we have in my country.
The german spec M3 according to my owners handbook have 310bhp, so even if the S/C have 210bhp, it's still far, far off from staying with a M3. A 328 have 193bhp.

A supercharged 318 is as fast as a 328 give or take in a straight line. No where near an M3, unless the 318 is blown and has NO2 or something.

325's and 328's are not the same, sure, only 1hp, but more 22ft-lbs. are what makes the difference. Stock for stock a 328 will win easily.

Downing Atlanta makes a supercharger for the 318, and I believe Korman BMW sells a turbo kit.

Also you can try talking to Kirasir here on Maxbimmer, he has a custom tubro'd 318ti. He seems to have no problem beating me at the auto-x's.

Im supercharging my 316i E36 again (1993), its much easyer than turbo'ing it. The stock compression on it is 8,8:1 (M40 engine) so it can boost up to 11psi on stock internals.

If you turbo it, you will have to remove the aircon compressor because there is no space for both.

I have no idea what prices u are looking at, Im 12 000miles away.

It depends where you are going to boost to. Expect about 150whp at a low boost (6-7psi). Sky's the limit (and your budget).
High boost with a well worked motor can be anything from 200-250whp.
