will a regular mp3 player play dvd discs?

ok my friend has a dvd burner and he said he burns 4 gigs of mp3s on 1 cd... i have an mp3 deck in my car and i still got lots of cds cause my music collection is huge, so id just like to burn a few DVD discs and play them there.. would it work? if not, how much do these players go for?

No, even the DVD-playing headunits don't offer DVD-MP3 playing.

It'll be years before DVD-audio and then DVD-MP3 compatibility makes it to the mainstream of car audio.

All current mp3/wma players are cd based and so are the decoders. I can fit 5 cds on 1 cd when copied as a data disk, and used in my sony cdx-m8800

your MP3 player will NOT read DVD discs.
DVD/MP3/CD headunits ONLY read DVD-movie discs. NOT data.

If you want that many songs you're best bet is to buy a hard drive storage for your MP3's... (i.e. MP3 Keg)..
